Maybe you have seen him on TV, showing his own real Social Security ID (with no remorse or fear at all). His name is Todd Davis and he is the CEO of Life Lock, a company that is growing slowly but firmly, at the market of identity protection against online fraud.
Online fraud - as we have talked a lot before - is a real "industry" that cost the consumers millions of dollars year after year, despite the efforts of the police and Governments. Electronic felonies, specifically online scams are far more common today that ten years ago, and the measures of protection, even though easy, are by far very unknown by the common people.
Lifelock offers the reasonable level of protection against fraud and scams. What impresses me is how Davis just publishes everywhere his SS Id, there is not a better proof of concept than that. And the lifelock reviews by consumers are also positive, in that sense.
The mechanism behind is fairly simple and has nothing to do with the arcane, obscure methods that i have heard of beforewards. Rather, it consists basically in raising fraud alerts through the main credit card merchandisers. And asking the credit card emisors to not include the customer in their pre approved cardholders’ list. Nothing that one could not ever do. But, it is something that i would not definitely do, for the sake of the time to be consumed.
For 10 bucks per month, the customer can feel secure and rest peacefully, knowing that there is no way that his identity be "cloned" with the unlawful purpose of scamming money out.
